The Walking Dead: Who Will Be Killed Off??

Though nothing has been leaked, it pretty much has been confirmed that we will lose a major character at the end of the 6th season of The Walking Dead. Fans have thrown out a couple of names as to it will most likely be. Here is my quick analyst of who could get the axe and why they could and couldn’t.

GLENN:
Why It Could Be:
Lets start with the obvious; Glenn.  Not only has the show been hinting at his death for so long now, but the current events are mirroring the events that lead to Glenn’s death in the comics. In my personal opinion, the Glenn character has come full circle and has done all that he needs to do. As much as we love Glenn and love seeing Steven Yeun on our television sets weekly, this is the perfect time for his demise. When our favorite main characters are killed off, they are usually given a very emotional send off. They aren’t just randomly killed off in the same fashion as lessor recurring characters. For the pending father, what better time would it be to pull at our heartstrings than now?

Why It Couldn’t Be:
One of the main reasons why producers may choose to spare Glenn is Steven Yeun. As stated before, it is hard to imagine the actor no longer being a part of the project. Not only that, but Yeun is probably one of the most talked about actors on the series when it comes to social media. He is the only actor on the show that people love more than the character they portray. In fact, I would not be shocked to learn that fans were obsessed more with Yeun than Glenn. This may lead producers into changing the fate of our favorite adorable innocent Asian(TALK ABOUT DIVERSITY).
Another reason why Glenn may live is because as of yet, there isn’t anyone that has filled his spot as the moral compass of the group. Someone that always takes the high road, yet, does not shy away from considering the wrong path[MORGAN].  In the past, major characters aren’t killed off until another character begins to fulfill the void that character’s death would leave(Tyrese to T-Dog. Morgan to Tyrese. Carol to Andrea. Tara to Beth). There is no character, currently, like Glenn.

DARYL:
Why It Could Be:
Another name in the mix of characters that are possibly on borrowed time is Daryl. Yes, our favorite bow-wielding redneck could be leaving the zombie apocalypse pretty soon. Unlike the other names being thrown out there, Daryl does not have an active storyline and his role in the group is slowly being filled. There are several characters being groomed into becoming Rick’s new right hand(pun intended for the comic readers). Jesus, Michonne, and Aaron are creeping into Daryl’s spot. If you notice, Daryl hasn’t been doing much this season. The character is becoming more “normal”, which turns away from what made the character so likable in the first place. The character has lost his edge and purpose. The show no longer needs him.

Why It Couldn’t Be:
The only reason why I think they may keep him alive is as a symbol to the comic readers to show that the show is “original” and not fully following the events of the book. Daryl is one of two(Sasha being the other)original main characters created for the show that are still alive. This may be a reason for producers to feel the need to keep Daryl alive. Another reason why they may feel the need to keep him alive, even though the character is well past his prime, is because like the actor Steven Yeun, the character Daryl has a huge fan base. Killing off Daryl could spark outrage among the show’s fans. There have been shows that were cancelled after killing off fan favorites. I don’t know if the producers would risk that even though the character has clearly overstayed his welcome in the Walking Dead universe.

MAGGIE:
Why It Could Be:
The mother-to-be could be worm could meet the end of Negan’s bat pretty soon. The only logical reason why I think they would kill off Maggie is to throw a curve ball to the fans. Everyone is expecting Glenn to parish, thus them giving us Maggie’s brutal ending instead. The show has been known to switch the fates of two characters(Andrea and Carol). This also may be a way to “humanize”(in the world they live in) Glenn. One of the reasons why Glenn has such a positive attitude is because unlike the others he has never experience real emotional pain; he is completely detached from his life pre-zombie outbreak. From the start he was separated from his friends and family, thus, he has not really “lost” anyone like everyone else has. For all he knows, his family is alive and well. Another small reason could be her pregnancy. Given that Judith has survived, there is no point bringing another baby into the picture or on the set.

Why It Couldn’t Be:
The reason why it is most likely NOT going to be Maggie is that she has currently started a brand new storyline. The series tends to be following the comic storyline that will lead Maggie into becoming the leader of the Hilltop.

CAROL:
Why It Could Be:
The final person that has been thrown into the death mix is Carol. Carol could be killed off for the same reasons as Glenn. This season, her character has come full circle with a lot problems and demons that she has been dealing with throughout the series. In this past Sunday’s episode, she has even found love(not with Daryl though, even more reason to kill him off). If they were going to kill her off, this would be the best time.

Why It Couldn’t Be:
For the most part, I truly doubt they will get rid of Carol. The actress, Melissa McBride is the most awarded cast member. The role of Carol has won 9 award(5 major wins) to date. Not only that, the character Carol is viewed by fans as the female version of Rick(taking over for the comic version of Andrea. I can’t see them killer her off.

Who I Think It Will Be:
Daryl. As stated, the character no longer has a purpose and iw quickly being replaced. Also, a few cast members have said that the script for the finale angered them. This could mean that the person getting the axe is someone who has been there from the start and that it was unexpected. Given the fact that Glenn and Carol are both deceased by this point in the comics, this rules them out. I cannot see them being livid about a character that is known to have died by this time. That only leaves two people; Carl and Daryl. We can rule out Carl due to them just doing the eye-incident a few episodes previously. Killing him off would defeat the whole purpose of doing such. The ONLY reason they would have for killing Carl off is due to Riggs aging. He is aging a lot faster than the character supposed to be. However, the show seems to have adapted to the fast moving pace of reality from the slow moving pace of the comics by making the character far more mature than he is in the comics.

Who I think It SHOULD Be:

Anyone but Carol…… Daryl is the only main character I can do without. It’s time Daryl, it’s time.

The season finale will air Sunday April 3rd(day after my bday :) )

UPDATE: Revamped the Blog and Revamped "New Day".

Hola my 3 followers :) , I decided to change the direction(and name) of this blog. Given the fact that I have started back dating, the old name no longer fit. So, I deleted most of the old post.

Seems like this blog is not the only thing being revamped. Congrats are in order to the newly(well kind of newly) WWe Tag-Team champions; New Day. Now originally, the team were off to a very bad start, but the revamping of the group has clearly saved Xavier Woods' job. Hehe (Kingston and E were pretty much safe).

Now, even though I agree that the group was in desperate need of remodeling, I can't say I am on board with what the WWE has done with the group. I'm not a fan of writers changing a character(s) from babyface(good guys) to heels(bad guys) solely based on the fans "boo" or "cheer" reaction. Now, I know that the IWC and WWe-Marks argue that the WWe "needs to listen to the fans", but I think that should only apply to the decision on whether or not to push someone NOT to change someone's character. To me, it's like the WWe creative team is admitting the writing sucks.

With that being said, for the life of me I still can't figure out what the original babyface version of New Day was suppose to do. What was their purpose? Someone tried to explain it to me on Instagram, but still can't wrap my mind around it. Were they suppose to be ripoffs of phony black leaders such as Al Sheryl and Messy Jackson? If that is the case, they should have been heels from the start. If the real Al was booed by the WWe Universe, what did the writers think was going to happen with a character(s) based off of him?

The sad part about this is that the idea of this group was a very good idea and the WWe could have used this to their advantage. As a writer, this is how I would have used the group:

First, Woods and Kingston should have never been a part of this group. Big E is the only member of the group that has a bright future a head of him. Kingston has peaked. He can go ahead and leave WWe because there is nothing left for him there. It is as clear as a new day(pun intended) that the WWe have no desire to push him as a main-event performer. He might as well jump ship to TnA or RoH so he can have a major World title run under his belt before he retires. Either he loves the WWe or prefer money over legacy because if I was a wrestler I wouldn't want to look back at my career and see that I was 12x Tag champion, 31x IC/US champion, but never a world champion. That is insulting considering how long he has been active. Woods, is just to beige for me to follow; very typical. There is nothing special about him other than having a PHD(which has nothing to do with wrestling). If New Day would have flopped, I could have seen him getting the ax during their next "spring cleaning". There was another thing that I disliked about Woods and Kingston being a part of this group, but I could not put my finger on it until a Caucasian fan  pointed it out to me. Woods and Kingston are too "oreoish"(his words not mine) for a black militant stable. Not to mention that Kingston has accomplished too much to be demanding a "newww day". And now that they are heels, it makes the matters worse. Titus Oneal and R-Truth would have been a better fit.

Another thing I would have done that WWE failed to do was established whether the group is a stable or a 3 person Tag-Team. Even though all three defend the Tag-Team titles, it's still hard to say. I would have established them as a stable and would have kept them as far away from the tag titles as possible. The WWE hasn't had a stable to dominate the singles divisions in years. I would have had O'neal go after the United States Championship, Big E attempt at recapturing the Intercontinental Championship and Truth go after the World.

UPDATE: 10/02/2015
Well, I guess since they are now a comedy act(very entertaining), neither of this matters now.

What Does "Free-Speech" REALLY Means?

With all this commotion about Tracy Morgan’s “homophobic rant”, there are a lot of bloggers blogging about free speech. From what I am seeing, not many really know the true definition of the term “free speech”. Free speech does not give someone the right to say what they what to say, whenever they what to say it, wherever they please. What free speech means is that an individual could go out into an open-setting(a street corner, in front of a court house)with a bull-horn and voice their opinion(s) with about the fear of being arrested. It does not mean you can go on stage or on a radio in front of a live audience and offend people. Even though its not illegal, it is unethical.

So, why are people losing their jobs behind voicing their views? That is easy, it is BUSINESS. Comedy tours, radio stations, and TV networks all have lovely people called  “sponsors”. Sponsors pay for their program to be seen/heard. So, if a comic or a radio show host offends a group of people or a community, members of that community will more likely boycott the sponsors for continuing to support the comic/radio show host, which causes them to lose money. So most likely its in the best interest of the sponsors to cut ties from the performer in the event something happens. So, next time a performer loses their gig because of something they said, don’t question “free speech”, know its all BUSINESS.
